We are in the middle of the Christmas and New Year’s holiday period and our instructors are busy teaching. Reports about the current snow conditions in the Alps are prominent in the news, but Verbier is a high mountain resort and we are currently skiing between 1.800 and 3.300 meters. And there is some good news, weather reports are suggesting that there is some snow on the way next week.
Current snow conditions
Despite the tough conditions, we had a great Christmas week in Verbier. We had lots of sunshine and thanks to Televerbier about 70% of the slopes were open. The best conditions can be found at Gentianes and Lac des Vaux. The rest of the pistes are in acceptable condition, but care must be taken to avoid rocks and icy patches.
Weather forecast
Over the next few days we expect more sunshine. Temperatures will slowly start to drop during the week and by Friday early forecasts suggest around 10 cm of snow. Long term forecasts also look promising for some more snow towards the end of next weekend. Fingers crossed for now, Happy New Year!
