Reports about the disappointing snow conditions in the Alps have been prominent in the news over the last couple of weeks. Even in Verbier the snow base is less than average for the time of year, but at least the conditions above 2.200 meters are still good.
Fresh snowfall
Last week we luckily received some fresh snow and yesterday we woke up to another 10cm snowfall. Unfortunately it has been raining on the lower slopes and in Verbier and so we are still lacking a good snow base to ski down into town, but above Ruinettes the slopes are open and even the famous Chassoure – Tortin itinerary opened this morning.
Christmas holidays
This weekend the Christmas holidays started and a lot of people coming over from neighbouring ski resorts such as Morgins, Chamonix, Champery and Les Marecottes which are still closed. Here in Verbier about 50% of the slopes are open.
We are very happy that the Verbier 4 Vallees resort open at this stage in the season and we are looking forward to the next few weeks. Hopefully we will a nice surprise of a fresh snowfall during the Christmas holidays.
