Despite waking up to a grey morning in town, once up the mountain we discovered sunshine, blue skies and better than expected snow conditions above the clouds. And that was the picture for most of this first week here in Verbier. Thanks to low temperatures snow canons have been working almost every night to create a good base and allow the slopes of Lac des Vaux, La Chaux and Attelas-Ruinettes to stay open.
Saint Nicholas
Thanks to great promotion by Televerbier the slopes of Verbier were flooded with people dressed up as Saint Nicholas on Saturday. In total 250 Saint Nicholas’ were able to ensure the resort for free and we enjoyed seeing all the groups in fancy dress.
Snow forecast
There are now two weeks left until the busy Christmas period and despite no significant snowfall predicted for this week, there is a chance we may get a few small showers and with the low temperatures forecasted the snow canons will continue to work every night.
Staff training
Most of the Altitude team have arrived in town and this week our instructors will be up the mountain developing technical and teaching skills to prepare for the upcoming winter season.
