It has been a while since we updated you on the activities and developments that are going on in Verbier. Right now the town is getting ready for a long and successful season!
Place Blanche
Probably the most interesting recent development in Verbier is the Place Blanche. The new square next to Medran will be a new arrival zone for skiers and some Austrian style apres ski, which is good news! You can now ski straight down into this lovely square in front of the new W hotel and enjoy an outdoor apres ski bar. On the left you will find the new Mountain Air shop and a brasserie called Le Bec. There are some last minute alterations still taking place, but the new Place Blanche is looking very promising!
Hotel Rosalp, Place Centrale and Rue de la Poste
The old Rosalp hotel has been demolished and will be rebuilt after the winter into another new apartment building.
There is also construction work going on in the middle of Place Centrale. The Banque Cantonale Verbier is facing a complete reconstruction, temporarily you can find the bank next to the Loft bar. Currently the building workers are preparing the construction site for the winter.
The reconstruction of Rue de la Poste has taken about two years, but it finally seems to be complete. The Kings hotel and surrounding buildings are still undergoing some construction works.
And that’s it for now! Today we celebrated the official season opening in a very sunny Verbier. We haven’t had any fresh snow in the last week, but the conditions are still very good to be able to ski down to Verbier.
