First summer ski since 1999

For the first time since 1999 we were able to summer ski on the Mont Fort glacier last weekend. For two days Verbier looked like a ski resort again, with perfect snow conditions from the top of Mont Fort until the Col des Gentianes. In total, two slopes were open, with a ski distance of approximately 1 kilometre.

Whether or not it was a publicity stunt on behalf of Televerbier, we can definitely say it was a succes! In total about 1.500 skiers enjoyed the slopes over the two days on what is probably the steepest summer skiing in Europe. Earlier in the morning the slopes were quite hard, but as it got closer to lunchtime the conditions became absolutely amazing!

So the question is- why don’t the slopes stay open for a little bit longer over the next few days or weeks? Unfortunately we don’t know, we think it would be nice to enjoy these conditions for a bit longer…
