Avalanche awareness

Avalanche awareness

Hi,

My name is Oscar and my friend’s name is Joël. We are seven years old and we are part of the Weekend Club at Altitude Ski and Snowboard School in Verbier. Our group is level 6, which means we ski many different runs in Verbier.

Today our instructor Martina took us to the DVA training centre in La Chaux. There we followed an avalanche rescue training course. We have learned how to use a transceiver and how to find victims in an avalanche, followed by the use of the probe and shovel.

Did you know that 90% of avalanches are triggered by skiers themselves?

It was a great morning, thank you Martina!
