Verbier is probably enjoying its best summer ever, since mid June we have had lovely summer weather with average temperatures over 25 degrees Celsius. After a busy Verbier Festival event the town is now hosting the annual horse jumping competition ‘Jumping International de Verbier’.
The ‘Jumping International de Verbier’ is running from14th until 23rd August, this international horse jumping show features some of Europe’s best riders. The best show jumpers from over 20 nations come to compete in this professional CSI*** and CSI**** competition. The arena is located next to the sports centre and is surrounded by food stands, bars and shops.
On the 15th August Verbier hosted the 9th edition of the La Fête des familles at La Chaux. Unfortunately due to rain the event was moved to the Salle St Marc in Chable but was still a great success. Organized by Televerbier, this event has many activities for children, various food stands and this year, included a concert by Henri Dès.
The 26th Grand Raid is one of the world’s most demanding mountain bike races from Verbier to Grimentz on 22nd and 23rd August. The course has a length of 121km with more than 5.000m of climbing. The course record was set in 2009 by Alexandre Moos in a time of 6h05m04s.
